STATE-OF-THE-ART-TECHNOLOGY |
The Barren River Regional Cancer Center
utilizes the latest equipment and most advanced
technologies in detecting and treating cancer..
With the help of the best computer technology available,
three dimensional (3D) treatment planning allows the
physician to treat the cancer more effectively while
protecting surrounding organs and tissues.
- TrilogyTMLinear Accelerator - delivers treatments quicker and more efficiently, resulting in shorter treatment times for patients. With onboard imaging capabilities, the Trilogy™ can obtain a set of x-rays or CT scan, and if necessary, minute adjustments are made to enhance each radiation treatment.
- CT (Computerized Tomography) - uses a sophiscated X-ray machine
combined with a compter to create a detailed picture of the body's
tissues and structures. The scanner circles the patient's body to
obtain thin section views that are assembled by the computer to create
3D images.
- MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) uses a powerful magnetic field
rather than X-rays and can distinguish accurately between healthy and
diseased tissue.
- PET (Positron Emission Tomography) scan is a non-invasive procedure
that provides unique information about the body's metabolism, cell
function, and the exact location of disease.
The Barren River Regional Cancer Center team is able to
combine imaging technologies, such as the PET and MRI, to
maximize diagnostic accuracy.
Once a specific plan for treating the patient's cancer is
developed, we go to work. Advanced equipment send
cancer fighting radiation to the tumor. Careful
follow-up and close physician supervision ensure the best
possible outcome. |
